2021 Club Awards

Bella Rasche:
Club Player of the Year

Waratah’s Player of the Year for the 2021 season is Bella Rasche. She has been a member of the Waratah Netball Club since 2017, and has consistently been a strong player for our top teams for several years showing sportsmanship on and off the court. She exhibits strong leadership skills during games, demonstrating a high skill level and focus to achieve success. Bella always has a good work ethic at training, but also wants her teammates to have fun. This season, she has taken on a coaching role with the Kittyhawks and has shown commitment to this role, sharing her knowledge with her players and empowering and inspiring them to be the best they can be. She models the club values and is a very deserving recipient of Waratah’s player of the Year. Congratulations Bella.

Dwight Graham:
Club Commitment.

The Club Commitment Award is presented to someone who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the club values and purpose that is beyond the norm.
Dwight has been a coach for Waratah Netball since 2017 when he joined the Club after moving to Newcastle. In his inaugural year with the Club he coached the A5 Cruisers to win the Grand Final. After several years coaching our top team, this season he brought together a new combination of players, 21/4 Spitfires, who finished the season at top of the table.
As well as coaching for the Club, Dwight has taken on committee positions firstly as Coaching Convenor and then Treasurer. He works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the Club is financially sound and during the COVID-19 pandemic he went above and beyond organising refunds and providing support during an unprecedented time.
Dwight is an exceptional model of the Club’s values of Sportsmanship and Integrity. And whether he is cooking bacon and eggs at a fundraising BBQ, or dressing up for a Club Trivia Night, he always puts the Waratah Netball Community first.
From everyone at Waratah Netball Club, we want to say thank you, and congratulations Dwight.

Mason Cadogan:
Junior Player of the Year

The recipient of the Junior Player of the Year Award for the 2021 season is Mason Cadogan. Mason has been a member of the club for a number of years and currently plays in the 12 Years Capris. Mason is dedicated to his team, and the Club, in many ways. He has attended every available training session for the season as well as having attended all pre-season Nettyheads clinics. Mason is a great team player, exhibiting the Club value of sportsmanship, having a positive attitude to game situations and interacts with players in a positive manner. He is always encouraging his teammates at games and at training, both on and off the court. Mason also helps out with his younger sister’s team of a Saturday morning to get the team warmed up. He was also an avid assistant at the Waratah Senior trials and helped out at the Inner Glow trials. He proudly wears his Waratah training gear every week to show his commitment to the Club's community focus. Mason has also shown a keen interesting in umpiring, helping out other teams on a number of occasions. Mason is a deserving recipient of our Junior player of the Year award. Congratulations Mason.

Club Spirit Award
The Club Spirit Award is presented to the team that best displays the Club values of Sportsmanship, Integrity and Community.  This year the award goes to a Senior team who has supported all the Club activities including the Fundraising BBQ, Trivia Night and Senior Drinks. The team attends training consistently, has three players coaching junior teams and two players who are committee members.  They are proud Club members who demonstrate the Waratah Club Spirit.

This year’s Club Spirit Award goes to our A grade Cheetahs. Congratulations Cheetahs!
